Device overview
Shelly PM Mini Gen3 is a compact, single-phase Wi-Fi power meter for monitoring one directly wired appliance or branch load. It fits behind a socket, switch, or inside another suitable enclosure and has no switching relay. The exact S3PM-001PCEU16 model measures a circuit up to 16 A at 240 V AC.
Core features
The meter reports active and apparent power, voltage, current, power factor, frequency, consumed energy, and returned energy. Shelly's PM1 interface keeps separate returned-energy data, so the device can distinguish energy direction when wiring, orientation, and configuration are correct. This is useful for a small PV inverter circuit or another clearly defined bidirectional branch, but it is not a utility revenue meter or an export-limiting controller.
Installation and sensing
Measurement is direct and in-line; there is no external current transformer. The monitored live conductor passes through the device terminals, while neutral is also required. Shelly specifies 110-240 V AC and a maximum measurement current of 16 A. Installation belongs inside a protected indoor wall box or enclosure and should be completed by a qualified person with correctly sized conductors and upstream protection.
This direct 16 A ceiling matters in comparisons. Unlike CT-based whole-home monitors, the PM Mini Gen3 is intended for one modest load or generation circuit. It should not be selected for a service entrance, a high-current feeder, or a circuit exceeding the device rating.
Compatibility and local access
The device joins a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and also uses Bluetooth for setup and gateway functions. Its embedded web interface, RPC/HTTP endpoints, MQTT, outbound WebSocket, webhooks, and scripting provide local automation options. Shelly Cloud and the Shelly Smart Control app add remote access and history, but cloud service is not required for local monitoring.
Home Assistant's official Shelly integration supports all Shelly generations and communicates directly with Gen2-and-later devices over the local network. The meter therefore suits users who want local push updates without relying on a cloud-only integration.
Accuracy and measurement boundary
Shelly describes the product as a precise real-time meter, but the current exact-model product page and technical documents do not publish a formal IEC/MID accuracy class or a numeric percentage accuracy. The accuracy field is intentionally left unset. Buyers who need billing, tenant allocation, compliance, or audit-grade measurement should choose a meter with an explicit certified accuracy class.
Best-fit scenarios
The PM Mini Gen3 is a good fit for appliance monitoring, a dedicated low-current circuit, preventative maintenance, or measuring a small single-phase PV inverter output. Its compact size and local interfaces are the main advantages. Its limits are equally important: one channel, 16 A maximum, no relay, no CT expansion, and no published formal accuracy class.
Purchase and official sources
Shelly's European store listed the single unit in stock at EUR 15.90 during the 2026-09-10 CST review. Regional price, shipping, compliance, and installer requirements vary. Use the official product page for current availability and the Shelly technical documentation for the exact device and PM1 data model.
