Device Overview

The WattNode WND-WR-MB-OS is a CT-operated wide-range Modbus energy meter sold as a Socomec / Continental Control Systems WattNode product through Aim Dynamics. It is aimed at installer-led metering, building energy monitoring, submetering, and solar export-limiting projects where wired RS485 Modbus data is preferred over a consumer cloud app.

Core Metering Role

This is an energy meter, not a gateway, solar inverter, battery, or EV charger. It measures electrical values through external 0.333 Vac current transformers and reports over Modbus RTU. The product page and reference manual support single-phase and three-phase services across 100-600 Vac, including 1P2W, 1P3W, 3P3W, and 3P4W wiring contexts.

Installation And Sensing

The meter is intended for panel or enclosure mounting and is line powered. Current measurement depends on the selected CTs, with compatible CT ranges up to 6000 A. This makes the page useful for comparison against other CT-based energy meters where CT range, phase support, and local protocol access affect project fit.

Communication And Integrations

The WND-WR-MB-OS uses RS485 Modbus RTU and includes a SunSpec register list. It does not need a vendor cloud for core readings. Home Assistant support should be understood as standards-based Modbus integration through suitable RS485 or Modbus gateway hardware, not a native Socomec cloud integration.

Fit And Limits

This meter is strongest for technical users, installers, commercial panels, and advanced solar or building-management systems. It is less suitable for buyers who want a plug-and-play phone app or circuit-level consumer dashboard out of the box.
