Device overview
The Carlo Gavazzi EM24 is a DIN-rail energy analyzer for installer-led switchboard, sub-metering, solar, and building-energy applications. The selected EM24DINAV93XISX SKU is the direct-connected RS485 Modbus RTU version, so it is best understood as a wired panel meter rather than a cloud-first home monitor.
Installation and electrical fit
This SKU is a 4-DIN indoor DIN-rail device for electrical cabinets. The official product page lists 1-phase 2-wire, 3-phase 4-wire, and 3-phase 3-wire support for the EM24DINAV93XISX model, with direct connection up to 65 A. CT-operated EM24 variants exist, but they should not be mixed into this exact SKU's max-current value.
Accuracy and metering
The current MCP field set is filled from Carlo Gavazzi's EM24 product and datasheet sources: active energy Class 1 / Class B MID context, reactive energy Class 2, local RS485 Modbus RTU, and consumption/generation energy metering. The meter can support import/export visibility when installed and mapped correctly through Modbus.
Integrations and limitations
Core metering does not require a vendor cloud service, but users need compatible RS485 hardware, a gateway, PLC, energy-management controller, or software stack. Home Assistant support is marked as standards-based through the generic Modbus integration, not as a Carlo Gavazzi-native Home Assistant integration. It is not a wireless consumer monitor and is best suited to installer-led panel work.
