The official wiring table supports single-phase two-wire (1P2W), two-phase three-wire (2P3W), and three-phase four-wire (3P4W) configurations for this IS variant. It explicitly excludes IS from the three-phase three-wire (3P3W) AV9 diagram, so installers should not generalize the wiring support from other EM24 communication variants.
Accuracy and metering
For this exact non-MID X-suffix model, store active energy Class 1 under EN IEC 62053-21 and reactive energy Class 2 under EN IEC 62053-23. Carlo Gavazzi also sells separate EM24 MID suffixes, but their Class B certification should not be attributed to EM24DINAV93XISX.
The meter provides electrical variables plus total and partial active/reactive energy. Positive/import and negative/export registers make it suitable for consumption and solar import/export visibility when the wiring, direction, and Modbus register mapping are configured correctly.
Communication and Home Assistant
Core metering is local and does not require a Carlo Gavazzi cloud service. The IS interface provides two-wire RS485 Modbus RTU, so a PLC, energy-management controller, serial gateway, or compatible RS485 adapter can poll the device.
Home Assistant compatibility is standards-based through its generic Modbus integration. It requires suitable RS485 hardware and manual register configuration; this is not native discovery or a Carlo Gavazzi-specific Home Assistant integration.
