Device Overview
Acrel APM800 Series is a panel-mounted three-phase multifunction power meter for switchboards, distribution panels, industrial energy-management systems, and power-quality monitoring projects. It is a CT-input meter rather than a direct-load DIN-rail meter, so it is best suited to installations where the designer can select the correct current transformers and wire the meter into a managed electrical panel.
Core Features
The APM800 Series measures full electrical parameters, energy statistics, demand, four-quadrant energy, and power-quality indicators. Acrel lists 400 Vac and 690 Vac rated-voltage contexts, 45-65 Hz frequency, 2DI+2DO as a basic function, and modular expansion options for additional I/O, storage, temperature inputs, Ethernet, Profibus-DP, and a second RS485 interface.
Installation And Metering
APM800 is a panel-mounted device with AC 1 A or 5 A CT secondary inputs. Because the primary current depends on the external CT ratio selected for the project, EnergyMeterHub intentionally leaves maxCurrentAmps unset rather than pretending there is one universal load-current limit for every installation.
Compatibility And Integration
The official source set lists RS485 / Modbus RTU and DLT645 communication, with optional RJ45 Ethernet supporting Modbus TCP, HTTP, and DHCP. That makes the meter suitable for local BMS, SCADA, EMS, gateway, or compatible Modbus polling setups. Home Assistant support is treated as standards-based Modbus integration through suitable RS485 or Ethernet hardware, not as an Acrel-native cloud integration.
Strengths And Limits
APM800 is stronger for installer-led panel monitoring than for simple homeowner retrofit monitoring. Its Class 0.5s active-power accuracy, CT-input architecture, four-quadrant energy, and modular communications are useful for commercial panels, solar/export monitoring points, data-center energy management, and industrial distribution monitoring. Buyers should confirm CT ratios, voltage configuration, communication module options, and enclosure/panel fit before specification.
