Installation and current measurement

Metering and solar relevance

Home Assistant can read the meter through its Modbus integration when the installation includes a suitable RS-485 adapter or gateway and the ABB register map is configured manually. This is protocol-level compatibility, not a native ABB Home Assistant integration or automatic discovery workflow.

For buyer comparisons, the most important distinction is direct 65 A measurement versus CT-operated meters. Direct connection simplifies smaller circuits but cannot scale past the meter's rated current; CT meters are preferable for larger feeders. The MID Class B rating can also matter where certified billing or allocation evidence is required, while Class 2 reactive-energy accuracy is relevant to facilities tracking power-factor-related performance.

The Modbus interface is valuable when local data ownership, building-management integration or non-cloud monitoring is a requirement. Buyers who only need a simple pulse output may not need the additional communications and I/O features of this Silver-tier variant.
