Device Overview
SMA Sunny Home Manager 2.0 is a residential energy-management gateway for SMA solar homes. It sits in the switch or meter cabinet, measures energy flow at the grid-connection point, and coordinates compatible inverters, storage, EV charging and flexible loads through SMA's Sunny Portal and SMA Energy App ecosystem.
This page treats it as an energy gateway / data logger, not as a standalone energy-meter page. Its value is the control and coordination layer: it helps decide when to run loads, charge batteries, charge an EV, or limit export based on PV production, forecasts, tariffs and system settings.
Core Gateway Fields
The official HM-20 datasheet supports up to 24 measurable devices and up to 12 measurable-and-controllable devices. It also lists SMA Energy Meter interface, SEMP and EEBUS support, which makes the device important for homes that want coordinated self-consumption rather than only meter readings.
Installation And Connectivity
Sunny Home Manager 2.0 is designed for DIN-rail / top-hat-rail installation in the switch or meter cabinet. The official datasheet lists Ethernet as the communication interface, while Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS and SMA Energy App provide the normal setup, visualization and energy-management workflows.
Compatibility Notes
Use this record for SMA Home Energy Solution comparisons where the buyer is evaluating system-level coordination: PV inverter data, battery charging windows, EV charging behavior, dynamic active-power control, zero-export style controls and smart-load scheduling. Do not compare it like a direct CT clamp monitor or revenue-grade utility meter.
Practical Limits
SMA's official sources support measurement accuracy of 1 percent or better and direct measurement up to 63 A per phase, with external current-transformer support above 63 A. Those facts are preserved in the source notes, but this record intentionally does not fill energy-meter-only fields such as accuracyClass, currentSensorSetup or maxCurrentAmps because the page is maintained as a gateway/data-logger record.
